We place tenant involvement at the heart of everything we do and being a Board Member offers you an exciting and interesting role. If successful, you will be part of making major decisions about the quality of the homes and services we provide to our tenants, the building of new homes, how we support our communities to make them great places to live and much more.

The qualities you will need to make a good Board Member include the ability to:

  • Understand the diverse needs and views of our tenants
  • Work in a team and communicate effectively
  • Constructively challenge others’ opinions
  • Analyse information and draw conclusions
  • Lead and motivate others

Key Duties of the Board

  • Define CGA’s vision and values and agree the key priorities for the organisation
  • Ensure that the views of CGA’s tenants are taken into account in decision making
  • Regularly monitor CGA’s performance in a range of areas including: the services we provide, health and safety compliance and the organisation’s financial position

How much time would I need to give?

Being a Board Member is not a full-time role. The Board normally meets six times a year for two hours in the evening and also has two full day planning events each year. Board Members are also required to read the papers and prepare adequately before meetings. We will also fully support you to fulfil the role, so you may be asked to attend additional training and other events throughout the year.

How long are Board Members appointed for?

Board Members are appointed for three years. Subject to satisfactory performance in the role, Board Members may be re-appointed up to a maximum term of six years.

Will I receive any payment for the role?

Board Members can choose to receive remuneration of £3,500 per annum.

How do I apply?
