Our Tenant Board Members are key to the good running of our organisation, working alongside our Independent Board Members they oversee all things Gateway and make sure we are a strong organisation. The Board make major decisions about how we manage homes and neighbourhoods, build new homes, support our communities and much more!
As a Tenant Board Member you will:
- Attend up to six meetings a year (including two full-day residential sessions) and review papers from home to make sure you fully understand what is being discussed at each meeting.
- Attend other Community Gateway meetings when required, to ensure we hear from as many tenants as possible
- Keep up with the latest in social housing and use your insights to influence major decisions
- Makes sure the Tenant Voice is considered in decision making

Our Scrutiny Group review the services we offer and how they are being delivered to ensure they meet tenant needs. Scrutiny Reviews are held both in-person and online, at a time that suits everyone involved.
As a Scrutiny member you will:
- Spend 1-2 hours each week participating in reviews where you discuss new ideas and give feedback (these will last no longer than six weeks at a time)
- Work as part of a team to evaluate our services
- Makes recommendations for service improvements that will benefit all tenants
- Approves final reports before they are presented to our tenant committee, Gateway Central
- Looks at what other Housing providers are doing and make recommendations for service improvements
- Listen to community feedback, making sure the wider tenant voice is considered in the recommendations made.
Some of the skills we would love you to have for this role include:
- A passion for making sure Community Gateway provides great service
- A positive and constructive approach, willing to work as part of a team, with respect for others and good listening skills
- Able to weigh up issues and make fair judgements

Gateway Central is our main tenant group, meeting six times a year, to review our performance, identify areas for improvement and ensure the Tenant Voice is heard at Board level. This role allows you to get involved in enhancing our services, utilising your skills and experience, whilst considering other tenants views to help make recommendations.
As a Gateway Central Member you will:
- Spend 1-2 hours each month discussing new ideas and giving feedback.
- Listens to what others in the community are saying and feeds this back to us so we can act – regardless of whether it is good or bad
- Question us if they think something isn’t right, such as where we are spending money or planned community improvement works.
- Review performance information and make recommendations for service improvements

- A positive and constructive approach, willing to work as part of a team, with respect for others and good listening skills
- Able to weigh up issues and make fair judgements
