The Gateway Model
We are proud to be founded on the Gateway Model
Community Gateway is proud to be the first housing association founded on the Gateway Model – meaning we’re centred on the principles of mutuality, accountability and engagement. Being a Gateway Model sets us apart from other housing associations, as we are owned by our tenants and give them significant influence in how our organisation is run.
Being a Gateway Model means that:
- We encourage community pride and vision by empowering tenants to get involved in decisions on issues that matter to them.
- CGA is a democratic organisation as we are wholly owned by tenants and Members.
- We bring CGA colleagues and tenants together to deliver homes and communities to be proud of and services tenants value and trust.
We actively involve tenants in decisions that affect them, their homes and communities. We invite them to become engaged at all levels of the organisation and to play a role in how we are governed through our tenant committee, Gateway Central, Board membership and by being Members of CGA and using this right to vote at our Annual General Meetings.
Tenants can also make their voices heard by taking part in consultations and scrutiny groups, completing surveys or attending in-person and online activities and events.
Find out more in our Community Empowerment Strategy, which sets out how we engage the maximum number of tenants and secure the widest possible community involvement.
